President Francois Hollande announced Thursday that France has decided to conduct air strikes in Iraq, where militants from the Islamic State group have terrorised large parts of the population.

法國總統歐蘭德18日宣布，法國已經決定在伊拉克進行空襲，因為「伊斯蘭國」的激進民兵恐怖統治了當地大部分人民。

France will join the United States in providing what Hollande called "aerial support" for the Iraqi army in fighting jihadists who have taken over nearly half of the violence-ridden country.

法國將加入美國的行列，提供歐蘭德所謂的「空中援助」給伊拉克軍隊對抗掌控這個充滿暴亂國家的聖戰士。

France has already conducted reconnaissance flights over Iraq that started Monday, when Paris hosted a major international conference on the crisis. 法國已在15日向伊拉克派出偵察機，同時也針對這次危機在巴黎舉辦大型國際會議。
